Eccleston Quarry, also known as Eccleston Delph or Eccy Delph, has a rich industrial past, primarily operating as a stone quarry managed by Mr. Hurst. Stone extracted here contributed to projects like Blackpool Promenade and local roofing slates.
During World War II, a pump maintained the quarry's dry state; however, once this funding ceased after the war, groundwater infiltration transformed it into a flooded lake. Around the year 2000, a major undertaking saw the quarry pumped dry, facilitating the removal of over 250 cars and substantial debris.
