Diving atPalancar Gardens (Mexico)

Palancar Gardens, a significant segment of Cozumel's extensive Palancar Reef, captivates with its distinct underwater topography. Dives here typically commence over a sandy expanse, gradually leading into a dramatic, flourishing coral wall.

Specific sections of the reef typically range in depth from approximately 10 m / 30 ft to 25 m / 80 ft. These depths make it accessible for a wide array of certified divers, from newer open water to more experienced. Formations are notably intricate, sometimes appearing as coral 'bricks' that compose sections of the vibrant wall, creating a visually compelling landscape.

Divers often navigate what are colloquially termed 'Palancar Reef Caves'; however, these are not true cave diving environments but rather open swim-throughs and larger overhangs within the reef structure, suitable for recreational diving.
